Role
A “Presiding Judge,” also known as “Presiding Election Judge” is an individual nominated by a political party or the authority ordering the election. The presiding judge oversees and is responsible for the management and conduct of the election at the Vote Center that the judge serves.
Responsibilities
- Hiring their election clerks and coordinating work activities
- Attending Election training
- Coordinating the pick-up and return of election supplies.
- Setting up the Vote Center
- Overseeing Election Day activities and enforcing election procedures
- Assisting voters with exceptions to standard voting procedures
- Completing required election paperwork
- Closing the vote center
