Electioneering and Campaigning are prohibited within certain distances of the entrance to a Vote Center during a voting period. Electioneering is the act of posting, using, or distributing political signs or literature within 100 ft. of the entrance to a Vote Center during a voting period. Different rules may apply within 100 ft. and 1000 ft. of the entrance.
100 ft.
Wearing apparel or items that express support for a candidate, measure, or political party is prohibited within the 100-foot marker outside the Vote Center entrance.
This includes any apparel or accessories such as:
- Hats
- T-shirts
- Pins
- Badges
- Insignias
- Emblems
- Or any other similar communicative device relating to a candidate, measure, or political party
Voters may be requested to remove or conceal such items before entering the building.
1000 ft.
Electioneering using loudspeakers or vehicles with loudspeakers is not allowed within 1,000 feet of a vote center if it involves making a political speech or promoting a candidate, cause, or political party.
Engaging in electioneering can result in a Class C misdemeanor, as defined in Tex Elec. Code §§ 61.003, 85.036.
