- State law requires voters to register at least 30 days before the election in which they want to participate. Missing the registration deadline means a voter is not eligible to vote in that election, so it's important to register early.
- Voter Eligibility Requirements: To register to vote, a person must be a U.S. citizen; a resident of Dallas County; at least 17 years and 10 months old (a voter must be 18 to actually vote); not under a final court judgment of total or partial mental incapacity without the right to vote; and not finally convicted of a felony, or, if so convicted must have (1) fully discharged the sentence, including any term of incarceration, parole, or supervision, or completed a period of probation ordered by any court; or (2) been pardoned or otherwise released from the resulting disability to vote
- An applicant must download, print, complete, sign, and submit a paper Voter Registration Application.
- Ways to get and submit an application:
- Download, print, and mail the application (available in English, Spanish, and Vietnamese on the Dallas County Elections website).
- Request an application by emailing at VR@dallascounty.org.
- Register in person at the Dallas County Elections office, 1520 Round Table Drive, Dallas, TX 75247, weekdays from 8 AM to 4:30 PM.
- Pick up a paper application at a local tax office, library, or other government office.
